Top fragrances to attract the opposite sex

Each year in the UK, £350M is spent on men’s fragrances. But does the way men smell really make them more attractive to the opposite sex or are they simply splashing their money away?

Various studies have shown people have a positive emotional change when exposed to a pleasant smell. So a lady who smells an aftershave she likes will immediately have an elevated mood.

Kate Fox, social anthropologist and bestselling author of Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour, claims that a pleasant smell can make the difference. ‘If a person is clearly outstandingly beautiful, or extremely ugly, fragrance does not affect our judgement. But if the person is just average, a pleasant fragrance will tip the balance of our evaluation in his or her favour.’

So unless the man looks like a model from an advert for men’s aftershave, it is worth him finishing his grooming routine with a splash of cologne before leaving the house. This may be the difference between getting her attention and getting ignored.
Keep Her Away From the BBQ!

Inviting potential girlfriends to a BBQ could be a bad move if he is trying to get her in the mood. She will not only be disappointed with his culinary skills and the impending food poisoning but the smell of barbequed meat has been proven to turn women off.

According to Dr Alan Hirsch, founder and Neurological Director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, ‘the sense of smell impacts greatly on sexual arousal’. During studies Dr Hirsch identified that the smell of cherries and barbequed meat all acted to inhibit female sexual arousal.

In the same studies it was proven that cucumber actually enhanced female arousal amongst those tested. So not only will salad improve his diet but the smell will also improve his chances of attracting women.

In another study by the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Diagnostics in at the University of Vienna, results showed that the smell of East Indian Sandalwood essential oil and its main compound alpha-santalol also increases sexual arousal.

Fragrance manufacturers are constantly developing new smells based on studies like these and there are now many aftershaves on the market containing Sandalwood. These include Obsession by Calvin Klein and Sandalwood by Crabtree and Evelyn.
Make it Personal

Most men will wear a fragrance which they received as a gift from a friend or relative. Although the person buying it liked the smell from the bottle or how it smelt on someone else, it may not be the right smell for the man they bought it for.

Studies have showed that the same fragrance will give off different smells on different people. This is because of how the individual’s body chemistry reacts with the fragrance. Therefore to choose the right aftershave, it must be tried it on first. For best results the fragrance should be applied to the skin (wrist, neck, behind the ears) and not on clothes.
Don’t Underestimate the Power of the Nose

There is no ‘silver bullet’ when it comes to wearing fragrances. Despite what some advertisers will have men believe, one perfect smell will not immediately make women through themselves at his feet.

However, this much is true, humans can detect between 10,000 and 30,000 different odours and women have much more sensitive sense of smell than men. So choosing the right fragrance and smelling good, will get men noticed.Obsession Perfume by Calvin Klein TESTER for Men Eau de Toilette Spray 4.0 oz

How to make someone attracted to you

One of the most important things to remember when trying to attract a certain member of the opposite sex is looks aren’t everything. Its often been said if you could bottle what makes someone attracted to you the potion would be worth a million dollars, however the reality is that physically we are attracted to certain features subconsciously .If someone doesn’t find you attractive naturally there isn’t an awful lot we can do about that. Ruling out plastic surgery and other rather more drastic measures lol.

This may sound a little defeatist but its not because even though we are being realistic enough to know there are things we cant change, we also know there are some things we certainly can.

How many times have you met someone who was outwardly beautiful only to find out down the line they weren’t really the sort of person you’d want to associate with. I bet you their outward beauty soon faded in your eyes. On the flip side its perfectly possible to meet someone we aren’t instantly attracted to but the more we get to know them the more their inner beauty shines though and they can fast becomes one of the most attractive people you know.

Working on this basis you should attempt to find out your subjects interests what he or she enjoys and put yourself out there. Do a little research and use it to your advantage in a very subtle way. Without letting them know you are aware they have a strong passion about football for example you could perhaps mention that you’d always enjoyed watching the game on TV but never had the pleasure to go to a live game, you could also ask questions about rule and build conversation that way. Maybe ask to borrow a DVD or a book , this gives you a second opportunity to get in close proximity again.

If the person you are attracted to attends your workplace or school its quite likely that you’ll know one of tier ex's. Comparing yourself to them is never a good idea because we are all individual. This could be demoralizing for you if she’s a tall leggy blonde and you are a petite brunette.

However gaining some insight to what he ir she finds attractive can give you a few small clues how to draw attention to yourself . Clothes and style are something that can be considered , obviously you don’t want to completely emulate the ex partner ( remembering the are ex for a reason ) but if your dress style is very dress down and theirs is more glamorous you may want to try paying a little extra attention to your dress code.

This next thought might come over as cheesy but so be it. Smile! if you’ve spent some time making your teeth beautiful and white ( forget whitening products a quick brush every day with bicarbonate of soda will do ) its a shame not to dazzle him with them. Pay extra attention to making your smile reach your eyes. There isn’t a person on this earth who doesn’t look more attractive to the opposite sex when they smile! Forget the emo depressive look its so old.

Perfume is not used in an over zealous way can also leave a very lasting impression to those close to you so always make sure you smell divine. Cleanliness is attractive to have glossy hair , clean teeth, clean clothes and smell fantastic will all work in your favour.

Lastly be confidant. There is nothing more attractive that confidence. Look your hearts desire in the eye when speaking to him , walk tall and feel good about yourself even if inside you are a bag of nerves. At the end of the day even if you don’t end up having a romance with this person right now their impression of you is going to be a positive one.

Do you really need to pay for a partner?

I suppose when it comes to actively looking for a pertner these days the internet can be a confussing place. With a bazillion websites offering to find you the love of your life or the fantasy of your sexual dreams or they will give you your money back the temptation to allow them to do so is great!

There are of course thousands of ways to meet someone that DONT involve you getting out your credit card. Online forums and chat rooms are always full of people willing to talk to you. The real issue with these mediums is time , the time it could take to get involved in the community and then the time it could tsake to 'maybe' meet someone interested in dating and more importantly interested in dating 'you'. Of course unless these chat rooms and forums are made for your local area you will also have the disadvantage of the internet being global, you may take a shine to someone only to find they live on the other side of the world.

Should you choose to use dating forums you should always be aware of the dating Red Flags, some less desireable people have been known to use these mediums to contact vunerable genuine people.

Dating sites do have the same problems as I've already mentioned but the difference here is they are moderated and maintained. Anyone showing suspicious behavious consistantly would be removed. You have the opportunity to converse only with people that live in your immediate locale. You also have the additional benefit of knowing everyone you talk to is actively looking for the same thing you are . Less time looking and more time getting to the point.

When choosing a dating site to join Google is your friend, always run a search on the website before parting with any money, most scam sites will be listed on forums by unhappy customers. Good dating sites will offer a free membership to you in order for you to decide before you buyy if they are for you. Friend Finder and its adult sister site Adult Friend Finder as found on the free zone site are one of the oldest names in the business with an impecable reputation and websites literally bursting at the seams with features so they would be my top recommend.

Once joined make yourself a good indepth profile and stay honest about your needs and wants and truthful about yourself ( your weight, family background , education ) Following these simple rules will save any posssible dissapointment from both sides.

Top Reasons Men Fail At Meeting Women

Let's face it, most men tend to overestimate themselves. They may have been given strength from their academic record or success at work or on the court, and feel that this success automatically transfers over into credit in the "woman department". Unfortunately, this is almost never the case. These are the men that are left scratching their heads at the end of the evening when everything that they said or did went completely wrong. From my experience, here are just a few reasons why these men tend to misjudge themselves and fail.

1. Admission of error, means omission of error: Men like to be right, and conversely they do not like to admit when they are wrong. Because of this, they either create diversions, create excuses to cover it up, or try and explain it away.

2. Arrogance: Sometimes, a little arrogance is okay. But that place is often on the basketball court or in a sales meeting with a demanding client. Men should not be arrogant without due cause. Because of this, men tend to take advice from other men, that they perceive to be "less gifted intellectually, but more gifted with women". This almost always leads to a mistake.

3. High performing men often have the social skills of a raccoon. Often times, in social settings they cannot communicate with other people, and this leads to an upset or offended woman, or possibly women.

4. Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. Have you ever tried to buy a car, and the salesman is persistently trying to sell you on a pick-up truck? Probably not. Then why do men continually try and apply logic to women that are more driven by emotions? Women like men who can make them feel like they truly understand them.

5. Clicha Techniques don't work. Most men think that being charming and polite is the best solution. So, they take a page from the playbook that their mother taught them and proudly present their date with one dozen red roses on the first evening. This instantly places the man into a category that he does not want to be in, especially not this early in the evening!

Of course, these are just suggestions and mistakes that I've witnessed my friends making in the past. Some may be wrong, some pay be right, but overall, they are painfully accurate. Try not to over think the situation and resist those "cheesy impulses" that will have you labeled into "that Sweet guy I want to set my (homely) room mate up with".

Proof That Real Love Exists

While doing a signing for my latest romance novel, a woman passed by, picked up my book, and immediately wrinkled her nose.

"I don't read these kinds of books," she said.

"What do you read?" I asked.

She slapped it down on the table as if it was so far beneath her she couldn't bare to touch it any longer. "Something with at least a hint of realism."

"I'm sorry for you," I said.

And I meant it.

Why?

Because, good romance novels aren't fairy tales. They are snapshots of love at its finest.

I should know. I've written 28 of them, and read hundreds of others.

The complaint shouldn't be that these romance novels are not realistic.

Many of us just don't know how to make this kind of love last.

But that doesn't mean we can't learn. It's basically a matter of behaving as we behaved when we were courting the love of our lives. And, then taking it a few steps further to establish deeper ties that make "true love" every bit a reality.

How to Make Your True Love Last a Lifetime:

1. Avoid negative thought patterns. Allowing yourself to mentally or verbally tear down your significant other is like gnawing at the bond that holds you together.

2. Remember that your true love means more to you than anyone else--including your parents and your kids. Those who put their children before their spouse are often disappointed to find that they have no relationship left once the kids head out on their own.

3. Be more flexible and forgiving with your spouse than anyone else. We expect our spouse to "understand" our stress or limitations (in other words, put up with our crap). Instead, reserve your patience and kindness for the person who means the most to you.

4. Understand that relationships work on a spiral. The more thoughtful you are to your loved one, the more fulfilled and happy your spouse will be. In return, your spouse will give back to you.

5. Don't get too practical. Some couples forego the flowers, the cards, the dinner dates and the chocolate boxes in favor of saving money. But what's worth more to you? A few bucks or a relationship that will likely affect your whole life and the lives of your children?

6. Do something nice for your spouse every day, even if it's just a chore they typically do. These thoughtful touches will act as reserves against the tough times.

7. Be physical. Touch your spouse a lot, even when there is no hope of it escalating into a sexual encounter. These little reminders that a spouse cares are nurturing to the soul and sends wonderful signals to your children. They feel secure and happy because you are secure and happy, and they are more loving because of the example you've set.

8. Remain loyal and unselfish. Have the grit it takes to stick through thick and thin. And, start worrying more about whether you are being a good spouse than whether your spouse is being a good mate to you, and you'll be glad you did. As much as it may seem otherwise, life isn't all about you, how you're feeling and what you want.

9. Take care of you. You don't have to be model thin or in the blush of youth. But be the best you can be—mentally and physically.

10. Laugh. Don't take life too seriously. It's no fun to be around someone when everything means too much and weighs too heavy.

How NOT to find an online date

One of the biggest diseases in dating, online or off, is perfectionism. Some of us just don't like to fail. Some won't admit we have. Some avoid it at all costs. When this stubbornness runs into the living, breathing person we're dating (or trying to date), things can get rough fast.

Fortunately, online dating can help us get past this quirk. We turn to online dating to find love, but remember it's a numbers game. With hundreds of thousands of people dating online, the odds are against us. We will fail more than we succeed.

The key is to fail a lot, up front, and get it out of the way. Then the odds are in our favor!

I find these techniques especially helpful for people who've gone back to dating after some time away. I was there not too long ago: I'd just left a long-term relationship. And I learned not to wish for a perfect relationship to replace the one I just lost. It's best to rack up a bunch of small failures while getting your mojo back. So...

1. Write your best profile. Then trash it.
2. You can labor over a profile, writing a perfect masterpiece. But if it doesn't entice the people who'd love you in real life, it's time to revise. Rather than throwing it out, make it better bit-by-bit. In business, they call it kaizen, Japanese for "continuous improvement." It's rare to hit one out of the park on your first swing. So keep swinging-- keep improving. Aim for the stars. And crash and burn!
3. Make the first person you contact someone you think you have no chance with. Too gorgeous, too rich, too young, too everything. Be genuine-- pick someone you'd genuinely like to meet. They probably won't message you back, which is kind of the point. You want to get detached from the outcome of your dating by failing right away. It's easy to get attached to Joey19930 or Kim7ZZ7 after reading their profiles, but remember that they don't really exist until you meet them in the real world. Failing right away will remind you that the worst that can happen is this kind of failure. Which is nothing at all! Tell the perfect match in your head you're not good enough for them.
4. Ditch 'em. Then message, meet, even date someone who's not your type. Online dating makes it easy to go after ONLY 5'10" 28-year-old toned Catholic vegetarians with black hair. Which is good for being picky but bad for getting back in the game. So open your mind and meet someone new. (You don't have to marry them, or even fall in love. But you can learn a lot about yourself and have fun besides.) Fail to give it your all.
5. Searching online can easily take over your life. It's like looking for the needle in the haystack: you know it's in there, so you waste a day looking. That's a good way to burn out. Instead, limit your time. Give it no more than an hour every few days. If you write your profile right, it will do a lot of the work for you while you're walking the dog and doing yoga. Fail to fail.
By failing at online dating, you'll slowly get your confidence back. You won't look at a person who sends you a flirt as your last best chance. Instead, they'll be one of many options. Like the rest of life, the most vital part of all success is confidence. Remember, each failure is just a building block for the success you're about to build. As Samuel Beckett wrote, "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better." And eventually, you'll succeed!
